Hurricane Ian by the numbers
Hurricane Ian raged through Florida, leaving damage in its wake. But the state’s emergency preparedness machinery and infrastructure withstood the brunt of one of the worst hurricanes in years. The state government estimates that 2.6 million residents were without power, while the Department of Environmental Protection went to work immediately to repair damaged infrastructure. Companies in Florida also pitched in to help. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) pointed out that contractors on all active projects, including the various road construction sites in the Tampa area where Lane (Webuild) operates, “have secured the sites.”
